Once upon a time, in a small village hidden among the woods, lived a rabbit by the name of Mr. Thomas. Mr. Thomas was just like any ordinary rabbit in the village. He had a mother and a father and three brothers. Mr. Thomas was the youngest, not only in his family but among the entire village. He was considered the "odd bunny out", sort of speak. While all the other rabbits were growing up, Mr. Thomas stayed the same size and never looked a day older. For a young rabbit, Mr. Thomas ate quite a lot. For each meal of the day, he would eat more carrots than all the other rabbits. Nevertheless, Mr. Thomas lived a great life.
In the village, each rabbit was required to attend school. Everyday, all the rabbits and bunny's went to a classroom and were taught how to take care of one another, how to preserve carrots, and how to live life. The males were, called Rabbits and females were, called Bunny's. Well, one day, Mr. Thomas was sitting in class and he happened to glance over to the other side of the room. When he looked, he saw the most beautiful bunny in the entire forest. Mr. Thomas could not take his big round eyes off of her. The problem was was that he did not know the bunny's name. He hopped over to her and asked for her name. The bunny responded by saying, "My name is Millie". Millie was considered one of the wealthiest bunny's in the village. Her fur was always fluffed and her coat was always shining. Mr. Thomas knew he could never be with a good looking bunny such as Millie. He realized that he was not the wealthiest rabbit around or the best looking in village for that matter. But this rabbit was determined to be with her. He knew from the moment he laid eyes on Millie that she was the one he'd be with for the rest of his life. For weeks, Millie avoided Mr. Thomas. She would look away when he looked at her. Millie would not even say one word to him when he passed down the school halls. Weeks have gone by and Mr. Thomas was still very persistent. Finally, Millie came up to him and rubbed her fluffy white head against his. Out of pity or out of true love, Millie had fallen for Mr. Thomas. Days later, they both grew very close to each other. Each day, they would explore the woods after school. Occasionally, Mr. Thomas would snatch the most flawless orange carrot for Millie. They'd hop to the pond and stay until the sun set in the velvet sky. Life was absolutely perfect for the both of them. On one cold evening, Mr. Thomas took Millie to the village park. There, they both sat on the green grass watching the sun set and the moon brighten before them. Mr. Thomas turned to Millie and said, "I love you, Millie". Millie turned to Mr. Thomas and twitched her nose onto his. A twitch on a nose is considered a sign of love to rabbits. That night, they laid next to each other under the pine trees and incandescent stars.
The sun had risen and a new day came upon the two rabbits. Mr. Thomas woke up that morning with the radiant sun blazing down onto his cheeks. He opened his eyes and glanced over at Millie. Mr. Thomas sat there waiting for Millie to wake up. She must have been really tired, so Mr. Thomas didn't want to disturb her. He thought it would make Millie really happy if he brought her a morning carrot. As Millie laid there, Mr. Thomas hopped away to search for the biggest, most beautiful orange carrot in the forest. He hopped for miles in search of a great morning gift. Finally, the carrot had been found and Mr. Thomas was off to to deliver it to Millie. When Mr. Thomas arrived back to the park, Millie was still laying there. Mr. Thomas assumed Millie was still sleeping. He hopped towards her and laid down the carrot beside her. "Millie, wake up. I got you the biggest, most beautiful looking carrot in the forest, just for you", said Mr. Thomas. Millie did not respond. Mr. Thomas ignored the carrot and began to sniff Millie's body. He laid one ear on her chest and the other on her stomach. There was no sign of life within her. Mr. Thomas, in denial, kept trying to wake Millie up from her sleep. He eventually gave up. He laid next to her body for two days. After the second day, Mr. Thomas hopped away and continued on with his life. Even though rabbits have a heart, they do not feel pain or sorrow. Not one tear came from Mr. Thomas' broken hearted soul. It turned out that Millie was a year older than Mr. Thomas. The average lifespan of a bunny is three years while a rabbits lifespan is four years. Mr. Thomas wandered back to his village and went on with his life. Overtime, some other bunny's came along, but Mr. Thomas could never forget Millie.
A year had passed. It was fall and the leaves were turning brown. It was the day Mr. Thomas and Millie first met. Mr. Thomas had just turned four years old. In memory of Millie, Mr. Thomas hopped over to the park where they had both laid together that cold, bright evening. Mr. Thomas watched the sun go down and the moon brighten alone that night. He eventually closed his eyes and fell asleep under the stars. When he awoke, he found himself in a field of wheat overlooking a sunset. Mountains were in the distance and not one single cloud in the sky as far as the eye can see. The wind blew swiftly as it whistled through the trees. Out in the distance, Mr. Thomas saw a river running through the valley. He hopped over to take a look at himself in the waters reflection. As he looked into the water, the suns light reflected onto his face. Though it was bright, it was not blinding. As the glare moved across his face, a figure appeared before him. The glare passed and when Mr. Thomas looked up, there sat Millie. Mr. Thomas was fully aware of this dream, but this was no ordinary dream. Forever, this dream will be dreamt.
